Pssst,…Hey Lowvelders… Can you hear that sound? Can you feel it soothe you? Can you feel it move you? Did you know that it can heal you?
In a generation where more people are awakening to the importance of personal well-being, the interconnectedness of all things, and the need for a more sustainable way of living, things like sound healing or vibrational medicine are gaining popularity and recognition as effective and complementary methods for healing and wellness.
Sound healing for one is an ancient practice that has been used for centuries to promote healing and well-being. It is based on the idea that sound vibrations can interact with our bodies and minds in a way that can promote relaxation, reduce stress, and enhance our natural healing abilities. Today, there is a growing body of scientific research that supports the benefits of sound healing. For example, studies have shown that sound healing can help to reduce pain, improve sleep quality, boost the immune system, and reduce anxiety and depression.
With the above in mind, Sociably recently attended a Gong Bath by the Lowveld’s own Gong-Master, Bejay Watson, hosted at Hanya House in White River.
BeJay, a sound therapist, yoga practitioner, intuitive healer and gong master with over 20 years of experience has studied all the different modalities of energy, including Reiki, Universal Energy, Shiatsu, and Jin Shin Jyutsu, which all involve working with the energy that runs through our bodies. This deep understanding of energy healing led her straight to sound therapy, also known as vibrational medicine.
During a Gong Bath, BeJay uses a variety of sound tools to create a deeply immersive and therapeutic atmosphere. The bold echoing sounds of her gongs, the hypnotic tones of crystal andTibetan singing bowls, the soothing rattle of her rain stick, and even the primal sounds of a conch shell to name a few, all add a unique element to the experience. Her skillful guidance and intuitive selection of sound tools create a space for relaxation, healing, and inner exploration.
In addition to the captivating sound journey, BeJay ensures all participants feel comfortable and supported throughout the Gong Bath session. She provides mats, pillows, blankets, and any necessary props to help you create a cozy and relaxing space for the experience. She encourages everyone to embrace whatever emotions arise during the session, understanding that sound therapy can sometimes bring forth deep-seated feelings or memories. Whether it’s a release of stress, a flood of relaxation, or even a surge of energy, BeJay creates a non-judgmental space for you to fully immerse yourself in the experience and honor whatever arises within you.
Joining one of BeJay’s Gong Bath sessions is not only a way to end off a stressful week, but also a perfect opportunity to embrace self-care, find inner peace, and ease into the weekend with a renewed sense of balance and tranquility.
